Lars Westblade

Lars is a young Clinical Director and Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. A nominator writes of his welcoming attitude toward those interested in the study of pathology, saying, “I am a postdoctoral research fellow very interested in transitioning to clinical microbiology. I approached Lars for mentorship and he gladly obliged.” He was also lauded for his excellence as a teacher, with a large number of doctors, residents and fellows attending each session of rounds in which Lars presents.

“I find him to be very knowledgeable and active in the community. His enthusiasm and deep breadth of knowledge is truly exceptional.” Constantly seeking ways to decrease turnaround times and speed diagnosis, Lars is also a vocal proponent of adopting and validating emerging technologies.
