Objective:

To present a clinical case involving a right parotid mass and solicit a diagnosis.

Approach:

Case Presentation: A 45-year-old female presented with a right parotid mass which was completely excised.
Diagnosis Options: The possible diagnoses included pleomorphic adenoma, salivary duct carcinoma, chronic sclerosing sialadenitis, and sclerosing polycystic adenosis.

Key Findings:

The answer to the previous month's case was a fibroepithelial polyp (FEP).
FEPs are rare, benign, mesenchymal lesions commonly found in the ureters and renal pelvis.
Approximately 70% of patients with FEPs are males, with a mean age of 40 years.
Common symptoms include flank pain and hematuria.
The prognosis for patients with FEPs is excellent.

Interpretation:

Limitations:

The etiology of FEPs is uncertain.
Differential diagnosis includes urothelial papilloma, inflammatory polyps, inverted papilloma, and florid cystitis cystica/glandularis.
