To maximize pathology’s impact on patient care, we must modernize the systems pathologists rely on – starting with automation, interoperability, and fully integrated digital workflows. Fragmented systems and slow data access delay diagnoses and create opportunities for error. What pathologists need is a 360-degree view of the patient: information that is instant, accurate, and actionable. Only then can pathology’s full value be realized in clinical decision-making.
My career has been dedicated to building that future. As CEO of a LIS company for more than a decade, I led the development of specialized solutions across all lab types – clinical, anatomic pathology, microbiology, toxicology, and molecular – unified on single platforms. I expanded outreach offerings, drove EMR integrations, and championed lab-wide interoperability. These efforts improved diagnostic speed, data accuracy, and efficiency in more than 300 laboratories across the US.
For the past seven years, I’ve continued this mission at Gestalt Diagnostics – first as COO and Chief Strategy Officer, and now as President. In these roles, I’ve helped drive the development of digital pathology and AI platforms built for system neutrality and seamless interoperability. One milestone was the launch of a pathology-optimized enterprise viewer that integrates LIS, EMR, and AI tools. This technology is already enabling faster, more accurate diagnoses and reducing the risk of missed findings in high-volume labs.
Beyond executive leadership, I’m committed to advancing the profession through service and mentorship. As President of the Association for Pathology Informatics (API) and Governing Council member, I’ve mentored more than a dozen early-career pathologists and regularly contribute as a speaker, panelist, and educator at major conferences. I also serve on the boards of Medical Laboratory Observer and the Diagnostic Medicine Consortium, collaborating with Lab 2.0 to help define the lab of the future.
Across every role, my focus remains the same: equipping pathologists with the tools and information they need to deliver faster, more precise, and more impactful care. The transformation is already underway – and I’m proud to help lead it.
