About Adam J. Cole

Controversial opinion? Many pathologists believe that AI represents a threat to their livelihood. I disagree. I believe that when you look at the population bubble continue to expand and the population of pathologists continues to dwindle… The stage is set. We need to embrace the AI wave and learn to incorporate it as a way to make us all more efficient and better pathologists in general.

Qualities of innovative thinkers? Nothing new here. I think too often we get trained in residency and fellowship and start working. The curiosity can get buried as we get inundated with the daily grind. I think it's important to understand where we are, but to always be listening to your clients and remain curious on how we can help.

Deciding which problems to tackle? I look at pathology as a built-in bottle neck. Often bottle necks are looked at as places of inefficiency; however, it’s also an opportunity for us to set the level of information being distributed to our clients. I think if we can streamline the ordering and incorporation of molecular and AI results, it benefits everyone. Being able to do so in a compliant way and efficacious way is key. Again I foresee AI being a tool in this respect.
