About Kinan Drak Alsibai

Biggest challenge in pathology? Today, the field of pathology is facing its greatest challenge, which is that of rapid advances in technology. This requires a commitment to constantly update technological knowledge, and a willingness to dedicate oneself to research and development.

Exciting developments and trends? One of the most exciting developments in pathology is the integration of AI and machine learning in diagnostic processes, which has the potential to greatly improve accuracy and efficiency.

Missing from the diagnostic toolbox? There is a need for more personalized medicine approaches in the diagnostic toolbox, tailored to individual patient characteristics.

Attracting talent… We could attract more talented scientists by offering appealing laboratory scholarships and research grants to encourage students to specialize in pathology. And by organizing conferences, symposiums, and scientific events to showcase career opportunities in this field. We could also establish mentoring programs to help young scientists find professional development opportunities and advance in their careers. Finally, we could highlight the importance and impact of pathology in public health and patient’s care by communicating the advancements and discoveries made by scientists working in our field.

Inspiring leader? The renowned pathologist Monique Fabre was an invaluable source of knowledge during my internship in Paris, particularly in the field of deep-organ cytopathology. Her energy and determination have been a great source of inspiration in my own career in pathology.
