Exciting developments and trends? Learning about pathology clinics, where patients come and discuss their diagnoses and review slides with pathologists, has been super exciting. I would love the chance to see one of these in action!
Professional ambitions? I think it’s important for me to focus on matching into pathology and maximizing my time on the microscope and in the lab throughout my last year of medical school. Becoming a strong, well-rounded pathologist is the goal. I have some more specific ideas for my future career, but I think they should be secondary to this aim and are likely to change in the interim anyways. One thing that I feel I am uniquely suited to assist with is improving the exposure of medical students to the field of pathology. I would love to work on curriculum changes that improve student’s experiences with the field and hope to have the opportunity to assist with this over the next few years.
Inspiring mentor or educator? Robert Brodell has inspired me with his kindness, seemingly endless energy, and unwavering support of students. Kamran Mirza has modeled how to have a vision and shown me how powerful it can be when mentees are validated. I hope that one day I can pass along some of their enthusiasm to student’s/mentees of my own.
