Computer scientist Jeroen van der Laak and his computational pathology group have led the field in applying deep learning to pattern recognition in pathology, showing that AI-supported pathology is within reach. Jeroen has promoted research using the grand challenge platform, producing several landmark papers and a leading role in Bigpicture, a European IMI-supported initiative to promote AI research.
