“I am confident that current histopathology-based companion diagnostic testing for immune checkpoint inhibitors will be replaced by image analysis,” says Toby, Associate Professor and Medical Director of Informatics at the University of Colorado. His team was the first to demonstrate that mismatch repair deficiency alone is sufficient to predict response to PD-1 blockade, and that intratumoral CD8+ T cell density is also sufficient to predict response to checkpoint inhibitors.
