About Anteneh Hailu Abebe
An immunologist and molecular biologist, Anteneh holds positions both as a PhD fellow at Ben Gurion University in Israel and as a lecturer at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. He was nominated for his hard work on toxoplasmosis, but also strives to address the burden of other infectious diseases in Ethiopia, with a special focus on HIV, tuberculosis and malaria. His aim is to understand the molecular epidemiology of such diseases and to contribute to the development of preventative vaccines. One day, he would also like to use his scientific expertise to influence public policy.
Anteneh earned degrees in medical laboratory technology and diagnostic and public health microbiology in Ethiopia, then moved to Israel for a PhD fellowship in HIV transcription regulation.
