Video: The CURES Act
Is the healthcare community acting in the patients’ best interests
The 21st Century CURES Acts was implemented in the USA to make health data accessible and available to patients through electronic formats like smartphones, and patient portals. This means data such as pathology test results can be seen by patients with internet access as soon as they are available. Great – no more waiting for “that” call! But what’s the catch? Well, with no-one to help decipher the contents, lab reports can be very scary and confusing things for patients.
In Part one of our CURES Act video series, patient advocate and cancer survivor, Michele Mitchell, shares her views on how the CURES Act is working for patients, the importance of patient–pathologist interactions, and what still needs to be done to achieve truly compassionate care.
