Passing Down Pathology

Take a stroll along microscope memory lane

By Gary L. Keeney 05/11/2023 1 min read

Share

This month’s image comes from the feed of Gary L. Keeney (above, image one) where he poses with his first-ever microscope – originally bought over half a century ago.

“My grandfather was a mason,” Keeney says. “Who would think he and his wife would give a kid a microscope. I was shocked to see it again on the occasion of my mom’s 90th birthday. It still works. You just need sunlight!”

The love for pathology clearly is hereditary in Keeney’s family; pictured in image two is Keeney’s son, as well as his grandchild, William. Image three features his grandchild, Joe. You can follow Gary on Twitter at @GaryKeeneyMD.
