Autopsy in the Balance?
Živka Eri discusses how reducing autopsy practice endangers pathology training
“In Serbia, we have followed a worldwide trend – the exit of many pathologists from autopsy amphitheaters to become ‘respected members of multidisciplinary clinical teams.’ However, because of this, we are now seeing a reduction in the number of autopsies performed. This endangers the autopsy education of our residents and even the postmortem harvesting and donation of organs for transplantation.”
