Aortic regurgitation, commonly linked to a bicuspid aortic valve, has been identified as a significant cause of sudden cardiac death (SCD), associated with left ventricular remodeling and fibrosis. A recent study analyzed 8,551 SCD cases from 2014 to 2023, finding that 10 instances were primarily due to aortic regurgitation. The mean age of patients was 43, predominantly males. The study highlighted severe cardiac alterations in the AR group, stressing the need for awareness regarding its role in sudden death, particularly when tied to bicuspid valve abnormalities.
