A consensus developed by an international panel of cardiovascular pathologists has introduced the Seaport criteria for the histopathological diagnosis of lymphocytic myocarditis via endomyocardial biopsy. This new classification, published in Cardiovascular Pathology, aims to improve consistency and reproducibility in diagnosis by categorizing myocarditis into mild, moderate, and severe grades based on specific immunohistochemical findings. The framework emerged through a thorough 3-year Delphi process involving literature reviews, evaluations, and pathologist surveys.
