Researchers at Duke University have developed a compact, real-time quantitative phase microscopy (QPM) system utilizing an NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano GPU, significantly enhancing the analysis of red blood cells and other cell populations. This portable and low-cost holographic cytometry method processes raw data quickly, achieving 1200 cells per second with a phase imaging accuracy comparable to traditional methods. This advancement not only speeds up laboratory procedures but also holds promise for point-of-care diagnostics and automated classification of hematologic disorders in the future.
