A study conducted at Radboud University Medical Centre assessed the prognostic significance of anatomical access points in tumor deposits (TD) from 127 colon cancer patients. The analysis of 280 TD revealed that those with a single access point had significantly better 5-year overall survival rates (51 percent) compared to those with multiple access points (26 percent for two, 29 percent for three). The study also found a strong link between TD size and number of access points, alongside prevalent haematovascular invasion. The findings enhance our understanding of tumor deposit characterization in colon cancer, potentially guiding clinical practices.
