A recent study published in the Journal of Clinical Pathology reveals that less than half of surveyed centers have established quality control (QC) processes for digital reporting and display in whole slide imaging workflows. The survey, which included 19 members of the Bigpicture consortium, evaluated quality checks across various stages, finding that while 65 percent of laboratories implemented QC measures, areas like scanning and digital reporting lagged significantly. The research highlights concerns over variability in workflows and raises questions about the role of AI in improving QC processes.
