Cyril Wecht passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, according to the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts.
Wecht spent much of his life pressing his view on the circumstances of President John Kennedy’s 1963 assassination – that there was more than one shooter involved in the killing. After reviewing reports and videos of the assassination, Wecht concluded that it was “absolute nonsense” for the Warren Commission’s report to state a single bullet killed JFK and injured Texas Governor John Connally.

This outspokenness led Wecht further into the public eye, writing multiple forensic pathology books and serving as an expert witness on high-profile court cases, including Elvis Presley, O.J. Simpson, and Michael Jackson.
Even as he approached his 90’s, Wecht continued with casework and never shied away from sharing opinions that challenged controversial viewpoints. However, despite the seriousness of these cases, Wecht was known as a generally upbeat character who enjoyed a hearty laugh at his own jokes.
“Cyril loved his family, and made the happiness, well-being, and education of his wife, his children and his grandchildren his top priority in life," wrote the Administrative Office. His dedication to finding the truth is something that is sure to continue to inspire generations to come.
