January 2019

In this, our first issue of 2019, we explore the dream of diversity in pathology and laboratory medicine and how it translates into reality. Valerie Fitzhugh tells the story of her experience as a Black woman in pathology, drawing on some positive experiences and examining how we can do better going forward. Angelina Knott, Robin Suggs, and Timothy Craig Allen also ask why we have a pipeline problem and explore a unique solution to promote a diverse future workforce. In addition, we feature the art of algorithms, the landscape of epigenetics, a cellular kill code for cancer, and an interview with Darren Treanor, Diagnostic Digital Pathology Lead for The Royal College of Pathologists and Consultant Liver and Gastrointestinal Pathologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
