Several months ago, we asked you to nominate those whom you considered leaders in pathology and laboratory medicine – from every discipline, every career stage, and every location. Some of the candidates are well-known; others just beginning to make their mark on the field. Some consider themselves pathologists; others clinical chemists, microbiologists, spectroscopists, geneticists, microscopists, and more. But what all of our 100 finalists have in common is the respect of their nominators, our expert judges, and the laboratory medicine community at large. My fascination with science, gaming, and writing led to my studying biology at university, while simultaneously working as an online games journalist.
