“Microbiology is my passion and I am thankful I have found ‘my’ specialty,” says Alice, an Associate Clinical Researcher at the University of Newcastle, in the UK. Although she loves her research, she says her career highlight to date has been chairing the Trainees’ Advisory Committee at RCPath. In the future, she’s excited about the opportunities and challenges ahead for the profession – in molecular pathology, personalized medicine, point-of-care testing, and the mitigation of antibiotic resistance.
