This week, as we discuss pathology’s foundational nature and the best approaches to teaching it in medical schools, we also honor the life and achievements of one of pathology’s great educators – Emanuel Rubin. What lessons can we learn from Rubin? Perhaps his dedication and determination, his interest in mentorship, his skill in research and teaching, or – if nothing else – we can always fall back on his textbooks when tricky clinicopathological questions arise.
